Exams leave Class 10 students on sticky wicket
Aravindhan, a die-hard cricket fan, is eagerly looking forward to the much-awaited IPL 5 that starts from Wednesday.
At the same time, he has to prepare for his class 10 board examination beginning the same day. “My friends and I were upset when the IPL schedule was announced as it clashed with our board exams. My friends’ parents have strictly warned them not to watch matches till the examination gets over. Luckily, my family is a cricket buff and they don’t mind me watching the IPL matches,” said Aravindhan.
“I know I wouldn’t be able to concentrate on my Tamil paper when the rest of my family will be glued to the TV set. I’ve decided to catch the last half-an-hour so that my mind will be relaxed,” adds the class 10 student.
But Aravind Raja and Asif Alameen have to miss the matches till April 23. “We’ve removed cable TV connection some two months ago. A cricket fan, my son Asif requested me to give connection again but I told him I will do so only after April 23,” said Syed Sulthania. “I hope at least from next year IPL matches start from May. I know my son is eager to watch matches, but the board exam is very important and he has to score well,” she added.
Srinivasan never misses any single match but this time he has to forgo it for his son. “We disconnected cable TV connection and I’ve to catch the matches at my friend’s place. I give preference to my son’s studies and only then comes cricket,” said the parent.
