Ex-servicemen centre in Vellore to be rebuilt
Chief minister J. Jayalalithaa has announced the construction of a new building for Ex-Servicemen Centre in Vellore district in the state.
This will replace the dilapidated building, which will be demolished.
According to an official release here on Wednesday, the chief minister announced the allocation of `2.19 crore for this purpose.
The Ex-Servicemen Centres were functioning in all the districts in the state to safeguard the interests of those who had worked in defence forces with the sole motive of protecting the country.
“They worked hard for the sake of the security of the country, by putting aside the welfare of their family members,” the release said. Ms Jayalalithaa has been taking various steps for the welfare of ex-Servicemen in the state.
On learning about the condition of the building housing the Ex-Servicemen Centre at Vellore, and that it was beyond repair, the chief minister announced that the existing building would be demolished and a new building would be constructed for Rs 2.19 crore, with all the necessary infrastructural facilities.
