Complaint filed against councillor
A man was allegedly assaulted by an AIADMK councillor in Velachery for refusing to execute a sale deed before the stipulated time.
According to the complainant, his sister Karpagam had agreed to sell 600 square feet land situated in Velachery to Sakunthala.
Both the parties had consented to register the property within 90 days. However, Gurunathan, son-in-law of Sakunthala along with M.A. Murthy, ward councilor of 178th ward falling under Velachery, forced Karpagam to transfer the property to Sakunthala before the stipulated time without money transaction.
Following this, Murthy and his driver assaulted Karpagam’s brother M. Kumar. When Kumar lodged a complaint with the Velachery police, the councillor along with his men barged into his house and stabbed him with a knife.
Speaking to reporters after filing a complaint at the commissioner’s office, M. Kumar said, “The police has reportedly failed to take action against the accused.
I have sustained grievous injuries including a fracture on left hand and multiple cuts. Two fingers on my right hand were severed,” he alleged while disclosing the wounds.
Though the Velachery police registered a case under sections 323, 324 and 506(2) of IPC, they failed to book the accused under sections 326 and 307 of IPC,” Kumar added.
