CM okays quarters for cops, sanitary staff for stations
The state government will build quarters to house 500 police personnel drafted for bandobust / security duty at Kamudi in Ramanathapuram district in the state.
Chief minister J. Jayalalithaa sanctioned Rs 9.32 crore to facilitate the construction of the housing quarters.
According to an official release here on Tuesday, the housing quarters would accommodate 250 men and an equal number of women police personnel.
“The orders to construct the quarters were issued by the chief minister Ms Jayalalithaa,” the release added. The quarters would be established to house police personnel from various parts of TN who often come to the district for providing security during festivals and important programmes, the statement said.
Further, owing to the need for the armed reserve (AR) police battalions in Ariyalur district as in other districts in the state, the CM has ordered the establishment of an armed reserve police battalion comprising 64 personnel in Ariyalur district, in addition to creating 26 posts in the headquarters of Armed Reserve Police Battalion.
This would be in addition to the creation of three battalions of AR police comprising 188 personnel for the district. This measure will cost the state exchequer `2.93 crore, the release said.
The chief minister has also ordered the creation of 558 posts of sanitary workers to help maintain cleanliness and hygiene at police stations and various buildings belonging to the police department. About `2,75,07,168 had been set apart for this purpose.
