Bus kills student, runs amok
A student was killed when he came under the wheels of an MTC bus that hit him and ran amok at Pallavaram on Wednesday evening.
The bus came to a halt only after injuring two women pedestrians. Three persons have lost their lives this week due to accidents involving MTC buses.
M. Subramani, MBA second year student at Anna University and son of Mohan, a resident of Nagalkeni, was heading to Pallavaram on his two-wheeler after returning from college when the accident took place.
An MTC bus (route No. 66A) heading towards Hasthinapuram from Kundrathur hit him from behind near Pammal.
Subramani was thrown off and came under the rear wheel of the bus and crushed to death though he was wearing helmet, the police said.
The bus dragged him for a few metres and hit Rajeswari, 26, and Indumathi, 38, who were passing by. The two women have been hospitalised.
The police arrested bus driver Ezhumalai who was caught by the public when he tried to flee.
