Boy’s body found in well
The police on Friday retrieved the body of a seven-year-old boy who went missing from his residence at Suragapuram hamlet, in Tiruvallur.
Police said a villager spotted the body of a kid afloat in the well in Vayalur village during the early hours of Friday. On receiving information, the police rushed to the spot and fished out the body, which was identified as that of Priyadarshan (7) of Suragapuram.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the boy’s grandfather, Mr Subramaniam, had lodged a complaint with Mappedu police station that the boy, playing in front of his house in Suragapuram, was missing while his mother was away to purchase ration. Despite an extensive search by the villagers, the boy could not be located.
Mappedu police registered a case and sent the body to Tiruvallur GH for post-mortem. The body were later handed over to boy’s parents.
A senior police official said the boy couldn’t have covered this distance on his own to reach the ground-level open well, in the middle of an agricultural field.
Meanwhile, rumours are doing rounds that the boy’s mouth was found tied with a piece of cloth and material used for pooja.
