Bike ride claims two on Music Academy flyover
Two college students who were riding a bike without wearing helmets were killed when the rider lost control and hit a median as they were speeding down Music Academy flyover on R.K. Salai on Tuesday.
T. Damodaram, 21, a third year BA student residing in Mandaveli, and V. Jagadesh, 21, a MCA student residing in Neelankarai, were thrown off the vehicle when it hit the median. The two were killed on the spot.
An oncoming two-wheeler rider, who the bike hit, was also injured.
Police said that Damaodaran was riding the bike while Jagadeesh was on pillion, adding that neither was wearing a helmet.
The victims died of head injuries at a time when the world is observing head injury awareness week.
Theother two-wheeler rider was also not wearing a helmet, the police said.
The bodies of the victims were sent for post mortem to Royapettah general hospital.
