B.E. student kidnaps youth over laptop
Five persons, including an engineering college student and an engineering graduate, were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a youth and his cousin from Tambaram sanitarium. The kidnap attempt came about because victim had apparently asked for the money for a laptop he had given to the engineering student to sell a year and a half ago.
The police said they arrested Naina Mohamed, a fourth year engineering student of a private engineering college in Vandalur, for kidnapping his friend Vidya Sagar and his cousin Ashok Kumar of Movarasanpettai.
“The engineering student was using the laptop without selling it and never bothered to pay the money. On Thursday, Vidya Sagar called Naina Mohamed over phone and demanded money for the laptop.
Naina Mohamed promised to hand over the money and asked Vidya Sagar, who is doing a hotel management course, to come to a spot near the sanitarium bridge. When Vidya Sagar and Ashok reached there, Naina Mohamed and his friends took the two to a room in Guduvanchery saying they would have to mobilise the money. In the room, the five youths set upon the two who had been brought there and detained them. Vidya Sagar’s parents informed the Chitlapakkam police and on Thursday evening cops rescued Vidya Sagar.
