Auto driver returns laptop, rewarded

An auto rickshaw driver who returned a lap top and cheque books to the original owner through the police was rewarded by the Chennai city police commissioner.

Auto driver Hussain Sherif from Old Washermanpet on Friday afternoon found a lap top and cheque books on the passenger seat of his vehicle left behind by two passengers who travelled from Virugambakkam to Vadapalani.

“He being a honest man, brought the items to the city police commissioner’s office and handed them over to the officials there. It was easy for us to locate Rakesh of Virugambakkam because his details were available in the hard disk,” a police official noted. Rakesh, who is pursuing cinematography course in Mumbai, was immediately contacted and the items were returned.
