AIADMK: Why did Pranab Mukherjee visit 2G accused

Even as the Congressmen celebrated the arrival of the ‘Future President of India’ and DMK allies welcomed him with music and flowers, the rival AIADMK raised a ‘point of order’ in the UPA’s Presidential candidate visiting the house of an accused in a criminal case (2G).

“The President of our country is expected to be beyond politics, someone to be held in high esteem by one and all, within our country and outside as well. But the manner in which Mr Pranab Mukherjee launched his Presidential campaign does not bode well,” said an AIADMK functionary.

The DMK dismissed the charge.“There are cases against the AIADMK leader too but still Sangma called on her. If that’s ok, then this too is ok”, argued DMK spokesman TKS Ilangovan, MP.
