Advocates boycott court, stage demo

Advocates on Wednesday abstained from attending court in the city, condemning the CBI for not conducting investigation properly in the case of the murder of advocate Sankarasubbu’s son.

A group of advocates led by G. Mohanakrishnan, president of the Madras High Court Advocates Association, staged a demonstration near Aavin gate of the high court, shouting slogans against the CBI for allegedly trying to shied the accused.

The members of MHAA and WLA will continue to abstain from attending court on Thursday according to the resolutions passed on March 20.

The police had initially registered a case of unnatural death after Sankarasubbu’s son Sathish Kumar’s body was fished out of the lake in ICF on June 13. However, it had been altered to section 302 of IPC (murder).
