225 abstain from BE counselling
The number of engineering aspirants who abstain from counselling has increased from 17 on Day 1 (July 7) to 74 on Day 4 (July 10).
Statistics provided by Anna University, which conducts counselling for government quota seats in private engineering colleges in the state, show that of the 2,667 students called for counselling, 2,428 joined various engineering colleges, 225 abstained and 14 skipped counselling. The highest number (75) of candidates who did not attend counselling was on July 9.
All seats in government and its aided colleges in the vocational stream have been taken after four days of counselling and 3,417 seats are still vacant in self-financing engineering colleges in the state.
Counselling for sports quota candidates came to an end on Tuesday, while Wednesday will be the last day for first phase of vocational students counselling.
Differently-abled students will sit for admission on July 12 and general counselling for academic stream will start on July 13 and continue till August 18.
The second phase of vocational counselling will take place on August 19 and 20.
