The Delhi government on Saturday sent its response to the Union home ministry on allegations made by the Shunglu Committee about bunglings in the Commonwealth Games projects.

The Delhi government on Wednesday approved its response to the Shunglu Committee report, rejecting all the findings of the panel which pointed out to alleged bunglings in Commonwealth Games projects.

The Prime Minister's office has referred the Shunglu Committee findings on alleged irregularities in executing various infrastructure projects related to Commonwealth Games by Delhi government to the home ministry for further action.

In further embarrassment to Suresh Kalmadi, the Shunglu panel has slammed him for setting up a "sham" Commonwealth Games organising committee with much lesser accountability and transparency.

The Shunglu Committee has faulted the sacked chief of Commonwealth Games organising body Suresh Kalmadi and his aides over award of contracts saying there was "extreme concentration of powers at the top" and "conflict of interest" among OC officials.

Under pressure over the severe indictment by the Shunglu Committee, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday said its finding was "self contradictory" and criticised the panel for lack of understanding on the city government's role in conduct of Commonwealth Games.

The high-level Shunglu Committee, appointed by the Prime Minister to look into corruption in the conduct of the Commonwealth Games, has sought information from the public about the alleged recruitment scam in the Organizing Committee.
