Firm paid for burqas for BJP’s ‘Mahakumbh’: Digvijay

Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Tuesday alleged that the ruling BJP had got 10,000 burqas stitched for its ‘Karyakarta Mahakumbh’ to be held in Bhopal on Wednesday, for which a real estate company had paid Rs 42 lakh to the tailor, a charge denied by BJP.

‘Politicians paid to stabilise J&K’

In a sensational revelation, former Army chief Gen. (retd.) V.K. Singh has admitted that the Army transfers money to politicians in Jammu and Kashmir as part of “stabilising work” in the state. He added that money is transferred to some government ministers in J&K to do certain work in the national interests.

Eye ‘recovered’ 14 hrs after bear attack

It is a case that may as well be a medical miracle. After a bear attack that was almost fatal for a woman in Rajasthan, one of her eyes was gouged out and later recovered from a forest after 14 hours in a ”preserved” condition. Doctors say the wild animal removed the victim’s eye with the precision of a skilled doctor. They add that the eye may be donated for a transplant later.

‘Woodstock’ not possible in J&K: German envoy

Seeking to defend the controversial Kashmir concert organised by the German embassy in Srinagar earlier this month against charges that it was not open to all, German ambassador to India Michael Steiner said on Monday that the event was not a “peace concert” and that “no Woodstock was possible.”
