Maoist attack on bus fails
Maoist guerrillas on Saturday unsuccessfully tried to repeat the May 17 Chingawara tragedy in which they had blown up a passenger bus and killed 35 people by targeting another civilian bus in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, reports reaching here said.
Maoists kill 3 C’garh villagers, 6 missing
Suspected Maoists on Tuesday killed three of the 20 villagers abducted by them on May 23 from Gopalpatnam police station area in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district.
According to the reports, 11 hostages, including a woman, were released by the rebels in the morning, while six others still remained untraced.
6 Maoists held for Dantewada
In a major breakthrough, the Chhattisgarh police on Monday arrested six Maoists allegedly invo-lved in the April 6 massacre of 76 CRPF personnel at Dantewada, at Kottabura, barely 4 km from Chint-alnar, where the killings took place. Those arrested were self-styled Naxal commander Barsa Lakshma, Oyam Hidma, Podiami Hidma, Kawasi Budra, Oya Ganga and Durga Joga.

Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh is reportedly under pressure from the top brass of the state police not to take action against two IPS officers, posted in Dantewada district, for their “command failure” in connection with the April 6 Chintalnar massacre of 76 security personnel by the Maoists.
