OVL to buy 8.4% stake in Kazakh field
ONGC’s overseas arm, ONGC Videsh Ltd, on Monday agreed to buy US energy major ConocoPhillips’ 8.4 per cent stake in Kazakhstan’s Kasha-gan oil fields for around $5 billion. It will be the biggest acquisition by an Indian company this year and will rank as the sixth largest in the country’s history.

Infra sector grows by 5.1% in Sept.
The country’s infrastructure sector output grew to a seven-month high at 5.1 per cent in September due to double-digit growth in the production of coal, petroleum refinery products and cement.
PC acts on Kelkar’s advice, adopts 5-yr deficit cut plan
To avoid any credit rating downgrade, finance minister P. Chidambaram on Monday unveiled a five-year fiscal consolidation plan to rein in the fiscal deficit to 5.3 per cent this year. The government also accepted most recommendations of the Kelkar Committee report on a fiscal consolidation roadmap.
