SSWL sets up 140-cr wheel rim plant in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, July 19: Wheel rim major Steel Strips Wheels Ltd (SSWL) has set up a manufacturing plant at a cost of Rs 140 crore in the steel city for supplying the parts to leading auto majors.

The plant, the third one by the group after Chennai and Chandigarh, was today inaugurated by Tata Steel Managing Director Hemant M Nerurkar at Govindpur locality in Jamshedpur, near the Tata Motors plant.

Set up at a cost of Rs 140 crore over nine acres of land near the Tata Motors facility, the plant will have an initial production capacity of one million wheel rims which will be upgraded to two million in mid-2011, SSWL group Managing Director Group Dheeraj Garg said.
