Sensex closes 50 points higher
A benchmark index for Indian equities markets closed on Tuesday with marginal gains on a range bound trading day.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 18,276.78 points, closed at 18,316.61 points (provisional), up 50.58 points or 0.28 per cent from its previous close at 18,266.03 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also closed in the green at 5,499.2 points, up 0.3 per cent. Broader markets had moderate gains, with the BSE midcap index closing 0.56 per cent up and the BSE small cap index 0.28 per cent up.
