Rolls-Royce's new dealership in Chandigarh; unveils new model
Luxury car-maker Rolls-Royce Motor on Wednesday introduced 'Ghost Extended Wheelbase' model and appointed a new dealership here, its fourth in the country.
"Chandigarh is our fourth dealership in India," company's Head of New Business Development, India, Sri-Lanka and Bangladesh, Herfried Hasenoehrl told reporters here.
Select Cars Private Ltd, which is already operating a dealership for Rolls-Royce in Delhi, is expected to start operations here in the second quarter of 2012.
Rolls-Royce has presence in Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad. The BMW Group company, having manufacturing facility at Goodwood in England, unveiled its sixth new Rolls-Royce model -- Ghost Extended Wheelbase.
Hasenoehrl said the company has plans to open two more dealerships, which will take number of dealerships to six in India by 2012-end.
"We are investigating cities and discussing with potential partners to open two dealerships in central and southern India by the end of 2012," he said.
The company would be targeting large farmers, medium and large entrepreneurs and NRIs in Punjab with the opening of new outlet in Chandigarh, Yadur Kapur, director, Select Cars, said.
Rolls-Royce had posted 31 per cent year-on-year growth in car sales globally in 2011. The company sold 3,538 cars globally in 2011 against 2,711 cars in 2010, said Hasenoehrl.
However, he declined to divulge the specific number of cars sold in the Indian market.
