Ramky to focus on global biz
April 12: Ramky Infra-structure Ltd, a Hyderabad-based infrastructure and water treatment company, plans to expand its international operations to China. The company currently operates in overseas markets like Asia Pacific, West Asia and Africa.
“We are in the process of setting up our operations in China. We are planning to focus on industrial parks and water treatment businesses in our overseas markets,” Mr Goutam Reddy, the managing director of diversified Ramky Group, told this newspaper. The Hyderabad-based group has interests in roads, irrigation, water treatment and real estate businesses. The company is already executing a `380-crore worth industrial park in the southwest African country of Gabon. It expects international business to contribute 10 per cent of its total revenues in the financial year 2011-12.
Back home in India, the company is betting high on road projects to cash in on the government’s renewed focus on improving infrastructure in the country. He said the company’s order book has risen 68 per cent to `12,500 crore from a year ago. Roads and water treatment projects make up little more than half of the company’s orders in terms of value. Despite being a late entrant in the power transmission business, the company sees huge growth opportunities in the sector as the country aggressively pushes ahead with its agenda to improve the power infrastructure.
