Kingfisher not to take part in India Aviation

Crisis-hit Kingfisher Airlines will not be participating in India Aviation 2012, the international exhibition and conference on civil aviation beginning here March 14.

Kingfisher, one of the key participants in the first two editions, has decided to stay away from the five-day event this time due to the ongoing crisis in the airline.

Lt. Col. Vivek Kodikal, regional director (trade fairs), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), told reporters Saturday that the airline decided on its own to opt out.

"They are not participating in the show for obvious reasons," he said.

More than 200 companies from various segments of the aviation industry would exhibit their products and services during the event to be held at Begumpet airport.

The event will also feature an interactive session which the chief executive officers of leading companies would have with Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh.

At the earlier events held in 2008 and 2010, Kingfisher was a leading participant and its chairman and CEO Vijay Mallaya hogged the limelight.
