India's Jet Airways orders 17 Boeing 737s

India's Jet Airways has ordered 17 of Boeing's midrange 737 aircraft, Boeing revealed on Thursday.

In a report on orders booked in the first 12 days of the new year, Boeing also said it had taken 10 orders for its long-range wide-bodied 787 Dreamliner from an unidentified customer.

Virgin Australia has also ordered one 737.

Boeing did not give a value for the orders.

The company earlier said it had scored 805 orders in 2011, compared with 530 in 2010.
