Centre to meet on Blackberry

New Delhi, Aug. 24: The government is expected to take a final call on allowing two popular Blackberry services —the Blackberry Messenger (BBM) and Blackberry Enterprise Services (BES) on Thursday when the Canadian makers of the smartphone — Research in Motion (RIM) meet the Union home ministry officials.

The meeting is expected to be held over two days. So far, the home ministry has ruled out giving any extension of the August 31 deadline set for the RIM to offer complete access to all its services or face a ban on some of the services.

While RIM has offered a phased access to the BBM service, it has remained non-committal over allowing access to the BES.
