CBI brings 21 firms into bribery probe
The Central Bureau of Investigation has sent notices to 21 medium-to-large sized Indian companies regarding an ongoing probe into a financial bribery scandal, a senior CBI source told Reuters on Friday.
"Notices have been sent to 21 companies. It includes big to medium size companies, including real estate companies," the official, who did not want to be named, told Reuters.
The source added that cases were limited to individuals and unlikely to create a large fallout.
The agency is not currently considering widening its probe into bribery over loans to corporates, the source added.
Shares in real estate companies fell sharply on Friday on concerns more of these firms could be named in the probe.
