22 NBFC sealed in Jharkhand
A total of 22 non-banking financial companies (NBFC) were sealed in Deogarh and Pakur districts of Jharkhand after a chit fund company allegedly disappeared in Pakur, senior government officials said today.
“Four of the 21 non-banking financial companies where search operations were conducted in Pakur district yesterday were sealed while the rest were asked to produce documents if their companies are being run under RBI guidelines,” sub-divisional officer of Pakur Mukesh Kumar said.
Deputy commissioner of Pakur Sunil Kumar Singh had ordered the raids after customers complained that the office of a chit fund company there had been locked and disappeared with crores of rupees on Friday.
In the related matter, raids were also conducted in the Deogarh district yesterday with Deogarh SDO Uma Shankar Singh and its superintendent of police Subodh Prasad heading the raiding teams.
“Eighteen chit fund companies were sealed. The companies were asked to produce relevant documents within three days,” SDO Uma Shankar Singh said in Deogarh.
