Young, talented and determined
Playback singer Shraddha Pandit will soon be heard in Satyagraha, with the track Aiyo Ji. “After singing a couple of item numbers and romantic tracks, this song was something different. It’s a beautiful fusion and has an authentic Indian feel to it. Salim and Sulaiman, who have composed the song, are well aware of my background in Indian classical music. They were confident that I would do justice to the number,” Shraddha told us.
Shraddha was only 14 when she started out. “I started with Khamoshi and then I sang a song in Sangharsh with Sonu Nigam. Then Ey Shivani from Khoobsurat was a big hit. But getting a break after that was difficult as people thought I was too young. But today, I can say the biggest composers like A.R. Rahman, Amit Trivedi and Salim-Sulaiman have appreciated my work. I even write songs now, so I can feel that I have grown in my craft,” she says.
Her greatest inspirations have been Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle: “They are fighters and struggled to prove their mettle. And in those days, it was not easy. They are courageous women and will always be an inspiration.”
Shraddha, who has already sung for Kareena Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, says that she would love to do so for Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone as well.
