Why the song and dance?
It was Dabangg that made gorgeous Sonakshi Sinha an overnight star, but the film also portrayed her in a demure, rustic avatar that’s far from Sona’s true stylish self. In fact, so much was the image of the village belle ingrained in the minds of audiences and industrywallahs alike, that Sona’s had a tough time trying to get roles that showcase a different side of her persona.
With a glamorous makeover in the second half of Shirish Kunder’s Joker, Sona finally felt she had a chance to show B’town that she can play sassy and glam with as much panache as her Dabangg character. She threw herself into the role with a will, impressing Shirish so much that he offered her a dance number that’s sure to allow Sona to sizzle.
“Sona is a good dancer and she was ecstatic at this ‘bonus’ offering from Shirish,” a little birdie told us, adding that while the song isn’t an item number like Chikni Chameli, it does have an undeniable mass appeal.
All of which spells good news for Sona, who spent 10 days rehearsing for the all-important song and dance routine. So much dedication!
