Vidya learns Punjabi
The year 2012 worked wonders for Vidya Balan. First there was the stupendous success of her film Kahaani and all the awards and accolades she got for it. And the icing on the cake was her marriage to long-time beau Siddharth Roy Kapur. Now the Tam-Bram Vidya, who is married into a Punjabi family, is a woman on a mission.
No, this has got nothing to do with her films. It seems the Kapur bahu is trying to learn Punjabi these days.
On the wrap-up party of her next film Ghanchakkar, Vidya said, “I love the accent and the way Punjabis talk to each other. What worked for me is that I am also playing a north Indian in Ghanchakkar. So I started to get a hang of the language a year ago. And now I have learnt some words and I have a little grip on the accent too.”
Vidya has shown her proficiency with languages in the past too. For her debut film Parineeta she had picked up the Bengali accent. And this time, since it is also a real-life role, we are sure she will perfect Punjabi in no time.
