Udaan director adds personal touch to his debut
For any director, a debut film is always special and there is always a personal touch to it. Vikramaditya Motwane, the director of the much talked-about Udaan, is no different.
Reportedly the director has used his personal photo album for a very crucial scene in the film that revolves around an actor reminiscing about his childhood while going through the album. “It is a very sensitive and moving moment and very integral to the narrative,” says Vikramaditya.
The production team had actually hired a mother-son duo and re-created the album. However when the director saw the pictures, he thought there was a modeling quality to it and that they didn’t look real at all.
After a lot of deliberation, Vikramaditya came up with the idea of using someone’s personal album and requested the team to get pictures from home. That was the time he realised that his wife and nephew had been captured in many photographs in a playful mood. And all the pictures had a very real quality to them.
Confirming the same the director says, “It’s more from a director’s vision that I chose to use my own album. It shows my wife Ishika Mohan Motwane and my kid nephew Aarhan Roychowdhury playing with each other.”
Produced by critically acclaimed director Anurag Kashyap, Udaan has already been garnering rave reviews for its powerful performances and brave storyline at international film festivals.
