Swadeshi all the way for Sallu
After Wanted, Ready and now, Kanchana, Salman Khan has been steadily going south for inspiration. Salman’s last few hits, apart from Dabangg, have all been remakes of hit South films, and both industry watchers and fans have been wondering just why this is the case. Now an aide of the actor has put all speculation to rest.
“It is Salman’s opinion that films from the South are very ‘rooted’, they are ‘from the soil’,” explains our source. “Films from the South have still retained a strong element of the heroic, and that appeals to Salman. If you’ve noticed noticed, his hit films from the recent past, Wanted, Dabangg and Ready had him playing a strong hero. Working on remakes of South films that have a strong protagonist, appeals to his sensibilities.”
Salman on the other hand, isn’t overanalysing a formula he has found immensely successful. “At least I’m not copying films from the West,” he says. “This is something that belongs to our own country.”
Touché Salman!
