SRK pumps up action quotient
It may have something to do with the fact that his Wipeout was a complete wipeout in the race for TRPs, but Shah Rukh Khan is going all out to ensure that his forthcoming Ra.One scores in all the ways that count.
Recently, director Anubhav Sinha wanted to cut out a high-octane action scene because he wasn’t sure that it could be executed in the way the creative team had envisaged. However, SRK insisted that the scene be shot.
“There was an action sequence that Anubhav had conceived for Ra.One. While it did sound extremely interesting and innovative on paper, Anubhav started having doubts whether filming it was feasible at all,” said a source from the film’s technical crew.
Convincing SRK to drop the scene, however, was another matter altogether. “While Anubhav felt this sequence was going to be not just overtly expensive but also nearly impossible to execute, Shah Rukh had already made up his mind. He told Anubhav that it would be madness to let such an opportunity go and that some way had to be devised to shoot the sequence,” the source added.
Anubhav didn’t have much choice but to go back to the drawing board. The sequence was eventually shot and much to Shah Rukh’s delight, the final cut exceeded the crew’s expectations.
Though Anubhav refused to either confirm or deny the episode and elaborate on what the sequence entailed exactly, he admitted that it was SRK’s insistence that led to the shot being canned.
