This smoke’s without fire
Uff…all these “will they-won’t they” endings! No we’re not talking about whether a lead pair will unite or not at a film’s end, but about when the film in question will actually release. The latest to join the bandwagon is the Reema Kagti film Dhuan.
The Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor-Rani Mukherjee starrer was set to have a January 26, 2012, release when rumours of a delay first surfaced. Glad of the empty slot, Priyadarshan’s Tezz and Dibakar Banerjee’s Shanghai Knights stepped in — only to have the Dhuan team say that Republic Day was still their release date. Confusion was inevitable.
Now one of the film’s cast members has confirmed, “Dhuan cannot be delayed simply because the team has individual projects lined up immediately after the film’s release. The delay rumours were all smoke without fire.”
In the meantime, Dibakar Banerjee says he is not worried about any box office clash: “The films have different subjects. So there is no question of competing.”
Will Dibakar, and Priyadarshan, be as composed come January 26? That’s another will they-won’t they question with no immediate answer.
