Just when industry wallahs had finally stopped talking about the Sanjay Dutt-Sanjay Gupta fallout, there are indications that a fresh storm may be brewing. The two Sanjays had announced a remake of the Bollywood classic Khote Sikkay back in the day when they were business partners and fast friends. When acrimony set in, Sanju baba moved on from their production house White Feather — “taking” with him, their much-talked about project.
A battle of wills ensued, and Sanju seemed to come off the winner, announcing that not only would he now star in the project, but also produce it, with Soham Shah filling in the director’s role. However, Gups (as Sanjay Gupta is called by friends) may well have the last word.
With Sanju busy with Rascals and Gups’ own project Shootout At Wadala well under way, the latter has now decided that he will make his own version of the Khote Sikkay remake. While refusing to put down a timeline, Gups says the project is definitely on. “It will go on the floors as soon as I’m done with Shootout At Wadala,” he says.
Will it be game, set and match for Gups?
