Religion away from business for Emraan
Right from choosing a film to marketing them, there is a pattern that every actor follows and Emraan Hashmi is no different. What makes him exceptional, however, is the way he chooses not to subscribe to the herd mentality of Bollywood.
We have often seen many superstars go out of the way to promote their films aggressively — so much so, that they don’t even spare the opportunity to use religious festivals to market their film. But Emraan is one actor who doesn’t want to be a part of this trend. The actor, who owes his success to the masses, lambasts the pattern of promoting films during religious occasions such as Iftaar parties, Gokulashtami or Diwali. “Being a religious person at heart, I’d like to respect the religious sentiments associated with such festivals and behave like a normal man and not a star,” Emraan says.
The actor, who is attending a dahi-handi celebration today, clarifies that it’s not meant to promote his film. “There are too many opportunities and platforms that actors get to promote and market their films. I’d keep religion away from business.”
In recent times we have seen actors like Akshay Kumar, Tusshar Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh and even newcomers use religious festivals as a tool to tap the mass sentiments. Emraan hopes the trend stops soon.
