Ranveer defends Ricky Bahl act
The much-publicised Ladies vs Ricky Bahl didn’t exactly set the box office on fire, but Ranveer Singh isn’t complaining. He believes the role of the ultra suave conman was just what he needed to get out of the rustic Punjabi flavour that his character Bittoo Sharma had in Band Baaja Baaraat. While we’re tempted to
point out that this is what psychologists call the defense mechanism of “rationalisation”, Ranveer’s camp would have us believe that his justifications really are genuine.
Says a friend of the actor, “The ‘uncouth’ tag was very much something that people connected with Ranveer because of the way his role in Band Baaja… unfolded. Ranveer knew he had to break away from that.”
Ranveer affirms, “The transition from being a jhalla to a suave, polished guy was quite a tough journey. Now that the audience has seemingly liked me in this avatar and there has been good feedback from the industry as well, I am confident that I can try out something different in my next film Lootera as well.”
