OUATIMD puts up a strong fight
Despite facing stiff competition from last week’s blockbuster Chennai Express, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara has managed to gain some ground beneath its feet, if weekend collections are anything to go by.
The Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan starrer was released in 2,000 screens on Independence Day. The occupancy ranged between 75 to 90 per cent on the opening day and collected approximately `11.25 crores. Friday saw a slight dip and the collections closed at `10.25 crores, despite the makers increasing the screen count to 2,500. Saturday’s collections dipped further to around `8.75 crores approximately. The total domestic collections came to about 33.25 crores as of Saturday. The overseas collections remained a meager `90 lakhs.
However, Chennai Express has sustained its glorious run overseas as well, earning `72 crores in less than 10 days. The SRK starrer is said to have smashed all records in the international market with this staggering figure. And now the overseas and domestic collection of Chennai Express stands at a solid `228.70 crores.
Now the acid test for OUATMD lies in the coming week and it remains to be seen if the film manages to hold its own in front the seemingly indomitable Chennai Express.
