In an industry that runs on family name and family clout, Shah Rukh Khan is the biggest exception to this “godfather” rule. Coming in as an outsider, he made his millions the hard way, and he says he wants his children to go about it in the
same manner. Despite the larger-than-life existence he and his family lead now, SRK wants his children to struggle the same way he did, and make it big on their own merit.
“I’m a self-made man; I’ve always considered myself an ordinary man with extra-ordinary luck,” he smiles, adding, “And that’s exactly what I want for my kids too. I want them to have a normal childhood, and I really hope they achieve success on their own merit. Success without struggle is no fun.”
“SRK has experienced success and failure in equal measure. And he feels the special treatment that star kids receive in the industry won’t last for long. Eventually, everybody has to prove themselves,” says a close associate. And while it might be too early for Aryan and Suhana to decide on their career path, they’ll have to do it on their own.
