No more beginners’ luck: Imran
Five out of the seven films Imran Khan has worked in have been hits. What is surprising, however, is that all five were directed by debutant directors. From his own debut venture, Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na to I Hate Luv Storys, Break Ke Baad, Delhi Belly, and the most recent, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, all had first-time directors at the helm.
A more superstitious man would have happily continued working with new filmmakers all his life but Imran says he's done with it. For his next film, Mattru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, he gets the vastly experienced Vishal Bharadwaj at the helm. "I have hitherto worked only with debutant directors. But I am getting to work with a seasoned, experienced director who has made so many good films. We haven't started shooting for it yet. But I know that there is a tremendous amount for me to pick up and learn from Vishal when the shooting starts next month."
