Mehra takes a step back
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has smartened up. After suffering an indifferent audience with his Delhi 6, he has decided to do away with the frills and the non-linear approach he’d used then to make a more straight forward film next up. Mehra is currently working on Teen Thay Bhai, and he has decided that it wouldn’t have any hidden meanings here.
A close associate of the filmmaker says after Delhi 6, Rang De Basanti and Aks, all of which had deeper connotations to them, Mehra wanted to keep things simple with Teen Thay Bhai. “There isn’t a twisted plot or any such elements that would require the audience to scratch their heads and wonder about the plot. It is a simple entertainer and is aimed at the audience who want to just have a good time,” the source said.
The decision to hand over the reins of the film to first timer Mrigdeep Singh Lamba was also one he took with the same end in mind. “I wanted to step back for this production. When Mrigdeep came to me with this script, I was convinced that he was the right man to direct it as well. He was very clear about what he wanted to do with Teen Thay Bhai,” says Mehra.
