Love, Sex aur Dhoka goes international
After garnering much acclaim in India, Dibakar Banerjee’s LSD: Love, Sex aur Dhokha is ready to wow cinemagoers around the world. The film will be screened at three international festivals this year — the Munich International Film Festival at the end of June, the London Indian Film Festival and the Melbourne International Film Festival in July.
Dibakar is overwhelmed with all the attention he has received from the international film fraternity. He says, “Finally, films that show reality in India are finding a truly international audience. They are looking beyond the ‘Bollywood star-studded vehicles’ to the alternate layers of reality of modern Indian society. Frankly we have a long way to go — but I’m proud to see LSD as a small beginning to big things!”
COO of Balaji Telefilms’ Motion Pictures, which produced LSD, Vikram Malhotra says, “Given the nature of the film and its contemporary appeal, we were always confident that the film would find acceptance outside the country as well. It has doubled our confidence in the kind of films we green light and we hope to take LSD to more film lovers across the globe.”
While Filmfest Munchen is the second largest film festival in Germany and attracts over 70,000 film lovers, the London Indian Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing the best of young independent talent from across the world. The Melbourne International Film festival is the longest running film festival in Australia, which enjoys over 1,90,000 annual admissions.
