Kat’s dictated by instinct
Katrina Kaif has sure come a long way from being a gawky newcomer to becoming an established actress, who’s now also the most sought-after item girl. The star has been a top preference when it comes to brand endorsements with her only competition coming from none other than Kareena Kapoor, the only other contender for the top spot in Bollywood. But Katrina rubbishes talks of competition. She says, “Honestly, I feel there is enough work for everyone in the industry. I follow my own career graph and it’s always great to have people around you who believe in you and love you.”
Much like Bebo, Kat’s films too have been roaring successes at the box-office and that makes her a hot favourite with the Khans as well. “I think people like me for the kind of work I have done. In the industry, an actor is as good or bad as how much money their film makes,” she adds.
For Katrina, nothing is more important than the inputs of her directors and producers. “When I was shooting for Chikni Chameli, I would look at Karan Johar for approval after every take. Actors know when they have done a decent job.” But she isn’t signing on any more item numbers as of now, unlike what rumours suggest. “I don’t plan on these things — they aren’t career moves. I choose my assignments on instinct. I knew Chikni Chameli would connect with the audience,” she says.
