Kapoor clan’s sweet memories
With a bronze statue of the legendary Raj Kapoor being recently unveiled on Mumbai’s “Walk of the Stars” (the city’s equivalent of the Hollywood Walk of Fame), it was occasion enough for his son Randhir Kapoor to get emotional.
The fact that the statue shows his father seated on a bench touched an especially poignant chord, Randhir added, explaining that it brought back memories from the time Karisma and Kareena Kapoor (Randhir’s daughters with actress Babita) were little.
“My father (Raj Kapoor) would sit on the bench or on the swing in our ancestral home…Karisma and Kareena were little girls then, and would sit on his lap or around the swing. I wouldn’t like to call those memories ‘old’ because we still live with them. We still miss our father and we genuinely think that he is guiding us.”
Randhir said, “As long as people think of Raj Kapoor, he is not dead. He lives in our hearts.”
