Imran fined to raise beer money

Danish Aslam was also a strict disciplinarian when it came to work. During the Break Ke Baad shoot, the director imposed fines on any unit member whose phones rang during the shoot. Danish reasons, “On a sync sound set, you can’t keep the cellphone switched on as it would disturb the shoot. If anybody’s phone rang, we imposed a fine of ` 500 to `5,000 depending on the hierarchy. For the actors it was `5000.”
But the fine also had a fun purpose. He says, “We would buy beers from the collected money. If a phone rang, we’d stop the shoot and start clapping. Then we would congratulate the person whose mobile rang and thank him for the beers.”
Ask Danish which actor had to shell out the most money for beers and he grins, “Imran’s phone rang when we were shooting in Mumbai. It was in the middle of his own shot so he paid five grand, which funded the beers.” BNS
