I have realised my mistakes: Anees
No Problem was one of the major disappointments of 2010 and director Anees Bazmee has no qualms in admitting the fact.
As he readies himself for the release of Thank You, he reflects on No Problem and says that it was some glaring errors in the writing that did the film in.
“In isolation, there were certain elements in the film that did go well. A couple of songs were chartbusters and a few comic scenes worked with the audience as well. However, it was the film’s script that didn’t bind the elements successfully,” says Bazmee.
He also feels that the lack of emotional depth was another reason why No Problem failed to connect. “If you look at Singh Is Kinng, Welcome or No Entry, all these film had a strong emotional quotient, despite their comic treatment”, he says, adding, “But I have realised my mistake and corrected it in Thank You and Ready.”
It’s indeed a welcome change to see a filmmaker admit to his mistakes. “What’s the point in hiding facts? I’ll only be fooling myself if I deny my failures. If I fail, I should be held accountable,” says Anees.
Now we can only hope all this wisdom gets reflected in his forthcoming films.
