Hum Tum Aur Shabana is not a remake

Is Hum Tum Aur Shabana a remake of the Anil Kapoor, Govinda and Juhi Chawla starrer Deewana Mastana? The question is doing the rounds in filmi circuits these days and not without reason. A film enthusiast observes, “Hum Tum Aur Shabana has both Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade vying for Minissha Lamba’s attention. And this game of one upmanship is reminiscent of yesteryear’s Deewana Mastana.
Quiz those associated with HTAS and not surprisingly they are quick to deny the charges. “Our film has nothing to do with Deewana Mastana,” smiles Tusshar, adding, “Even though it is about two guys trying to woo a girl, it doesn’t quite account for an inspiration. The second half of our film has an amazing twist that completely turns things round. I was quite zapped when I heard it for the first time. It’s pure original stuff.” Wonder what “original” means this time…
