Hrithik dons a new hat

With Kites all set to release, Hrithik Roshan is flying high. And one thing that has him fairly enthused is his look — make that looks — in the film. “The first look is lean, clean and very

street- casual. Then there is a grim look with earthy and sober shades, which I’ve complemented with a stubble,” says the actor.
“The stubble is to depict the time lapse in the story, which means the movie will run in flash back and flash forward, interspersed with the present,” Hrithik adds. Hrithik refuses too, to dwell on his style quotient, shrugging it off with a, “I am not a very fashion conscious person. Hence, I wouldn’t know the technical jargon...but I just loved wearing the hats in the movie!”
To get the specific look he wanted, Hrithik says he drew sketches and gave them to designer Suneet Verma to design and execute. “I used to discuss it with Suneet through sketches. Sussanne and I liked his creations so much, that we keep wearing them even off screen,” he says.
“Kites is a tale of love, betrayal and wants,” reveals Hrithik. “My character “J” has been brought up in Las Vegas. He is a loner, a street punk and has got the gift of the gab. But he is also poor and thinks that earning money is the solution to all his woes. He meets the love of his life and together they embark upon a journey that propels them in the midst of a most thrilling experience.”
With an English version of Kites being readied for an international release, has Hrithik been getting any interesting offers from the west? “Not officially,” says Hrithik. “But I am open to offers. I go by the script, and if I get a worthwhile one, then why not?”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
