Hot filmi summer is here

If the current trailers and a few upcoming ones are anything to go by then cine lovers can very well look forward to a hot summer. Promos of as many as six films were unveiled over the past week and with most of them being big ticket releases, trade pundits feel that a minimum of `500 crores is at stake.
The coming months will see the industry’s A-listers such as Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Shahid Kapoor locking horns in Department, Rowdy Rathore and Teri Meri Kahaani respectively. Add to this, Jannat 2, Dangerous Ishq and Shanghai and there is hardly any breathing space. Also, these releases are expected to wipe away the box office deficit created by Players and Agent Vinod.
“With the releases placed so close to each other, each film will have to make an instant impression. A lot of careers will be made, reinvented and fade away,” says a veteran filmmaker.
