Has Sallu jeopardised Bajirao Mastani?

Sanjay Leela Bhansali had recently said that Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai were actors he loved working with the most and he could not think about Bajirao Mastani without them. But after Salman’s recent barbed statements about Bhansali at an event, will Bajirao Mastani ever be made with Salman? The actor reportedly is miffed with Bhansali because he favoured Aishwarya over him and opted to work with her, rather than giving him Hrithik’s role. At the same event, when he was asked about Guzaarish, the actor allegedly dissed the film’s poor show and implied that Bhansali is an opportunistic filmmaker.
There were reports that Kareena Kapoor was being considered instead of Aishwarya after he shelved the film in 2003. Before the release of Guzaarish, the director had said that he had no plans of making Bajirao Mastani in the near future. “I wanted to make the movie with Salman and Aishwarya earlier as they were my favourite actors. It has been a cherished subject with me though I have no immediate plans to make the movie,” said Bhansali.
“I love Marathi stories and music and have been inspired by them. I have a very close connection with Marathi literature, music and art. But director Nitin Desai has already made a very bad version of it in the form of a teleserial,” he had said then.
However, trade sources feel that if Sanjay Leela plans to make the film with Kareena in the lead, she will be the right choice for the role as she shares a good onscreen chemistry with Salman. But after Salman’s diatribe, we believe the epic will be history.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
