Ferrari ride gets delayed
Sachin Tendulkar’s much hyped Bollywood debut with Ferrari Ki Sawari may have never taken off, but the film was quite close to a collision course with the Master Blaster himself. Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s film, which was originally scheduled to release in the last week of April, would have clashed unfavourably with the Indian Premier League (IPL). But the makers, perhaps realising this, have pushed it back by more than a month, all the way down to June.
“It wasn’t just the IPL, but a lot of reasons forced the makers to postpone their release,” says a source. “The month of May is packed with about 15 movies scheduled for release. It makes sense for them to look at June instead since there are far lesser films planned then.”
The move would also give them a chance to project itself as a big summer release targetting kids. Considering a kid plays a key protagonist in the film, it makes sense to have it release at a time when schools have their vacations going on. Apart from these, even talks of Sachin coming on board for a cameo haven’t died down completely.
