Dhoom director in legal trouble
Director Sanjay Gadhvi has found himself in a legal mess after Studio 18 of the Indian Film Company filed a criminal complaint against the director.
IFC had signed a two-film deal with Gadhvi in January 2008. IFC conceptually approved the first film, 7 days in Paris, in October that year and negotiated with Imran Khan a
nd Katrina Kaif to star in the lead. Although both actors blocked their dates for the project, the company claims Gadhvi did not produce the final draft of the script. Studio 18 then approached Neil Nitin Mukesh and Genelia D’Souza once Gadhvi said the script had been finalised. However, the actors are still waiting to see the script, Studio 18 claims. They also say that the entire production crew had been finalised and a recce of locations in Paris and Prague was conducted.
IFC then decided to claim a wrongful loss of over Rs 5 crore from Gadhvi and this June, the Delhi metropolitan court judged that there was enough material to proceed with the complaint.
The studio has now taken the drastic step of filing a criminal complaint against Gadhvi.
